KING COMES TO SCONE! - NEW MANAGER APPOINTMENT

21/03/2023

In previous centuries Scone has had it’s fair share of Monarchs crowned at the Palace and this time around it’s Scone Thistle FC who are delighted to welcome a King to Scone with the appointment of Charlie King as their new manager.

The club would like to thank all applicants who applied for the position and also thank outgoing manager Willie Laing who has continued his role while the position was filled.

Charlie joins the club with a wealth of experience both as a senior player at clubs such as St Johnstone, Livingston and Brechin City as well as managing in both the Junior League and more recently in the East of Scotland League with Tynecastle FC.

Scone chairman Derek Adam said of the appointment: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Charlie to the club and very much look forward to working alongside him and his team. Everyone at the club can only benefit from Charlie's experience and professionalism. His enthusiasm is contagious and this is an exciting time for everyone involved at the club”.

Incoming manager Charlie King added: “ I am delighted and excited to have been given the opportunity to manage Scone Thistle. I was looking to have a wee break for a short time but the chance to get back in so soon is quite simply something I could not give up. I look forward to meeting everyone associated with the club over the next few weeks and learning all about the players strengths to take us forward. Joining me will be Drew Fleming & Andy McKinnie, who gives that bit of continuity having worked with the players previously, alongside Eric Duff who continues his role with the club.  Saturday can't come quick enough as we host Brechin Victoria where it all started for me on the coaching side 10 or so years ago.  Hopefully we can build the club around the Community of Scone and I hope we can rely on the support throughout.”

We look forward to the start of a new reign as we enter the latest chapter in the club's history.
