CALLING ALL DOG WALKERS

16/01/2023

It has been noticed by our volunteers that the football ground of Scone Thistle FC has, in recent weeks, seen an increase in the amount of dog fouling being left behind. This has been highlighted a number of times in the past within the community and we would like to remind walkers again that the Dog Fouling Act (Scotland) 2003 makes it an offence for a person in charge of a dog not to remove and dispose appropriately any faeces after the dog has fouled without any excuse.

As the nights get darker, we appreciate that it might be harder to see/track what or where your dog is running (if not on lead) and we would suggest carrying a torch so you can keep track of your animals movements (excuse the pun).

We would also like to remind walkers that the football ground is part of educational land and is not a recreational park. If you do exercise your dog within the grounds we politely request that dogs are kept under supervision at all times.

Our committee and volunteers who also live within the community are having to spend an increasing amount of time before matches and training sessions removing faeces to make the area clean and safe not only for the football players of Scone Thistle FC but the pupils of the RDM school too, which I’m sure most of us would agree is unacceptable.

By working together we hope that any further reminder/action will not be required.

Many thanks in advance on behalf of STFC.
